Project 1 Start: Burroughs and Bands

While testing the CAMEL TAIL website for my project presentation and prompts, I began to mess around with the idea of combinging the lyrics from several bands of the 60s, 70s and 80s into one single 4-line lyrical song snippet.

I started with the four bands Rush, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, and Pink Floyd, choosing an album of each band's work to compile a list of unique lyrics. Once they were gathered, I began using Burrough's cut-up method to randomly generate the new 4 lyric poems. Below is a collection of the best combinations I was able to make.

  Where all is free
  Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs.
  But I still don't seem to care
• why'd you have to make us so uptight?
  Cause your man is out of town
  Run, rabbit run.

  And I spent a lot of time
  Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
  Havin' a nervous breakdown, will drive you insane
